In England I was mostly in the norf for ancestral/visiting reasons, absolutely loved York (pic rel is there from the Roman walls) and their museum there, the Sutton Hoo reconstruction is a must see. A day in London and Manchester for museums/historical sites is also advisable but you have to keep your guard up around there.Didn't glance a yank getting swatted by the guards but it'd be a proper sight.

I didn't get the chance to head up to Scotland but my friends mother when I was staying with them went up and absolutely loved Edinborough, hear nothing but good things about that city, heard Glasgow is a bit of a dump but that's by reputation.

Absolutely loved Whitby if you get up by there, touristy but surprisingly not overpriced and very picturesque place. I stayed for a good length in Teeside which was great, got to see Captain Cook's birth house, town and the monument to him there, plenty of great hiking around that area too if that's your vibe.

No need to worry about the length of your visit either, Australians get six months in Britain. As far as practicals go get yourself a cheap SIM when you arrive (I used giffgaff), pub culture is near identical to in Australia except the beer is even cheaper, Wetherspoons will be your friend. Getting around via bus is cheap if you can put up Indian/Nigger stench, the trains are heavily overpriced and half the time they just call a bus anyways and you get scammed out of your expensive ticket. Socialisation with locals is incredibly easy given same language and near identical dialect, I was confused in most hang outs as a posh faggot from Southern England. I also had an easy time with the girls there, Australia is idolised in Britain as a second England with better weather and wages.
