Sandman is obviously based on lots of shit. The concept of the Endless likely came from this this series, but then there's the rest of the comic, which was inspired by an assortment of fables and fairy tales, history, and other comics like Moore's Swamp Thing and Campbell's Bacchus. This is just a pile on by vindictive people.
