The Americas are a big place. Most Mexicans have significant indigenous MEXICAN ancestry, from the valley of Oaxaca or Tlaxcala or the Purepecha. They never significantly interbred with the natives of the southwest because their populations were incredibly sparse and half of them didn’t even practice agriculture.
