You need to slowly gain his trust and not scare him with sudden movements, and be understanding of his erratic behavior even as he gets used to a comfortable environment.
Spamtons are resilient, but once you've gotten the shots for Spam-borne diseases, return home and start working on reinforcing positive behaviors. Be slow and cautious and show that you don't want to hurt him, offer something as an apology for your reaction but also make it clear biting is not okay.
