if it helps, the guy who made One Piece (Oda) is HEAVILY involved with the Netflix version. he approves like, everything, about it. several scenes are shot-for-shot remakes of the anime (so I've heard, I don't know)

so it's quite different than most IPs. the creator's intent is still maintained in the essence, it's not somebody else thinking what it should be

the thing it does do, is encourage the general opinion that anime is not worthy of public mainstream attention. the same way Star Trek was considered nerdy... forever. it's a dis-service to anime in general
