Phascomon asks the next question.
"How exactly do you know all of this, Doc? You stay cooped up in here, and the Kokuwamon don't seem to have that much battle experience. You used to work for the city or something?"
"Ha. Nothing like that. They don't put humans in charge of anything essential. I've just lived a long life, and most of it as a Cracker. You survive enough nonsense, and you start picking up a skill or two. Still, city is much older than me. Everything was already set in stone when I was still a tot being ferried around by bots."
"What about your Digimon? How'd you meet them in the first place?"
"Stroke of luck, really. Garden portal that opened right in front of me. Kokuwamon number one here came to me as a Kapurimon."
"Hey, just like me!"
"Y E S."
"And I found her skills useful enough to collect her DNA. She's a mechanical Digimon, who are usually clear-cut. Good choice for a beginner. But her Insect data makes it harder for city management to understand and catalogue her. That means her tracks are less telling. From there, I just had her sweep for wild Kapurimon ever so often, and offered them a home here. Guided them all into being Kokuwamon too, so it'd be easier for us to understand each other. Got to four, before you walked in here with Phascomon."
And now it's three.
"What about all this stuff with Digivolution?"
"Learned and taught people. You're not the only child to ever come in here with a Digimon. But don't ask me anything about the others. You're not a member of a secret club. You've just unlocked the special menu, see?"
You wouldn't want him blabbing about you to any other customers, so you don't push that point. It's nice to get confirmation that there are others, beyond the Dogs of War.
"Of course. I'll probably be meeting with some other Digimon tamers soon. Speaking of, what was it you said earlier about Wind?"
"Yeah! I mean, I agree, but I wanna know why you said that."
