You're still going to miss the skill plunge unless you're close enough to glide a few feet over but this is going to result in extending your rotation time and getting a low plunge rather than a high plunge. This results in a significant DPS loss.

Clorinde doesn't really have this issue because her attack range is pretty fucking far for a melee character.
