I only speak for Sweden but almost always yes.

Now it's unlikely you'll get gun downed by an AK47 (though it is the most common weapon used by shitheads here) in a robbery, getting stabbed is almost guaranteed if you argue/fight back.
These people have zero respect for human life and do not care if they kill you.
