I will try to game it by cold calling without crypto knowledge and seeing what direction I would naturally approach the problem from without knowing the different routes and methods that are normally routinely attempted by crytographers and code analysts. A fresh set of eyes, if you will.
How many different characters are there in the number base or alphabet?
For example, 26 letters like the English alphabet?
Or 5,000-10,000-40,000+ characters like the Chinese alphabet?
Are we dealing with base 2 1's and 0's binary, or base 3 dot, dash space like Morse.
We need.....the key....the quant.....otherwise it could be a base 1 million and we could be working on determining the code to write a single exclamation point and not know it.
