'Robert Maxwell' origin story is very sloppy. He's supposed to have been this miraculous polyglot who spoke seven languages, but he was also barely literate as he never learned to write. He spoke yiddisch at home and his mother spoke perfect hungarian while his town was originally czech territory - but eye witnesses form the period have declared he spoke NONE of those languages fluently. However he did become fluent in English in just six weeks during the war, and always spoke it without a foreign accent whatsoever

Yet this foreigner is allowed to join the British army despite strict rules on such commissions, take part in the Normandy landing but of course 'because of his language skills' he gets a cosy job as an intelligence officer who doesn't actually see battle. From then until the end of the war, every single story about Maxwell has three or four versions
