Eh, you can just seed and grow a lesser aspect of yourself to love them as well. Do this a bunch of times and this is how you get idols/popstars/celebrities. They are sending out little Von Neumann probes to build a lesser version of themselves. The affection is then funneled up to the primary self, who basks in the attention. Course, that amount of 'affection' can drive a person mad.
