Yeah, now that I read it again, I think there is definitely merit to this sort of ending. Perhaps if Taihou were the protagonist and St. Louis was being a little more delusional/arrogant to this fresh new competitor then this kind of ending might be karmic and interesting to execute on.

That's a fantastic idea! Maybe it was even Taihou that paid for some of the groundwork to establishing such a school (or finding St. Louis a spot in an already-existing institution), as a way of saying "You taught me a lot, why not teach other newbies the ropes?"

Perhaps once St. Louis officially retired after the climax of the story and had spent a few weeks with nothing to do in her house and no hobbies really sticking her interest, Taihou arrives with an administrator from the institution inviting St. Louis to work as a Matron there.
