There is a line in The Prisoner of Azkaban, Chapter 15, Paragraph 3, Sentence 7, where it describes Hermione’s “white face” peering out from behind a tree in terror. I memorized that line when I was eight. I’ve clutched it to my chest ever since. When my dad left. When I got friendzoned in 2013. When the girl at Arby’s didn’t smile back at me. That line was there for me. And now? GONE. Sacrificed on the altar of diversity and "representation."

This is how civilizations collapse. First they take Hermione's complexion, then they come for the Magna Carta, then next thing you know, we're all speaking Esperanto and eating bug paste in a UN food pod while some blue-haired TikTok czar monitors our carbon score.

I’m just supposed to accept that the "brightest witch of her age" can have melanin now? What’s next, Black Dobby? Asian Hagrid? Transgender Sorting Hat?? The canon is sacred. The books are my BIBLE. And now they’ve white-erased “white face.” Now they’ve cast a girl with slightly darker skin to play Hermione in the new show. A girl who clearly cannot physically manifest a white face in the exact pigment shade J.K. Rowling described. That was THE SCENE that made me fall in love with literature.

J.K. Rowling, if you're reading this from your heavily fortified castle: please save us. Reverse this casting. Reinstate the white face. Reinstate the West. I’m BEGGING.
