I always wondered why Americans were so gung-ho about "defending" America, abroad, with their lives, in the first place.
Isn't America founded in muh liberty, freedom, individualism, and first and foremost, the philosophy of "fuck off and leave me alone"?
What I understand of the American national character is that signing up to die for someone else is the last thing that should appeal to them.
