yes planned obsolence is a real thing, even for physical media
yes some companies are making it purposefully difficult to repair, inspect, or otherwise preserve your physical copies
yes some physical devices have drm or killswitches that can be deactivated remotely
but that does not mean that most physical media is bad it is a very weird conclusion
