I don't think Jesus actually existed, he was just an esoteric jewish fairy tale character believed in by a sect of jews who were mad at the temple cult.

That sect of jew spread the belief in that character to gain political power and social approval, even to the goyim.

However I do believe the teachings they put in Jesus's mouth with the "moral" "cosmopolitan" teachings popular in Hellenistic society of that day, which is why some of Jesus's teachings in the gospels seem wise.
