In the context of speedrunning, sometimes people only spend a portion of time practicing a run. Once it's down comfortably, they probably stop running it unless they want to unrust for an event, or want to go for a higher record. I've been to ESA and a lot of the people there are actually pretty fulfilled and sociable people, this is just a part of themselves that they wear on their sleeves while you see them on camera because, guess what, it's a marathon about speedrunning.
