>Sometimes I think the only way to stop sinning is to kill myself.
This is the passions Acedia, and comes from Logismoi; intrusive thoughts from Satan himself. You must reject them as "evil, unclean, abominable, loathsome and alien" as we call the demons in the Baptismal exorcisms.
>How did saints go their whole life with never succumbing to any of the passions?
They didn't obviously. The Saints are not perfect nor infallible. "One is Holy, One is Lord Jesus Christ"
Life is never ending spiritual warfare, and temptations never stop, even when you become Sanctified. You just have the gift of grace to overcome them. Think of St Anthony in the desert after his struggles with the demons. His life says that the demons constantly made awful noises trying to distract him from prayer, and he simply ignored them. This disturbed people who came to him for advice because they could hear what he heard, and St Anthony was completely unbothered. But look at the struggle he endured to get to that point.
Our struggle never ends. But neither does Christ's strength have an end.
