I remember 15 or so years ago my brother who was a classics guy coined the term "deedly deer" from reading canterbury tales and listening to Indian accents on age of empires. Deedly deer apparently translates to

Mortal, fatal, full of hate, deadly in effect or manner, intense, fierce

Cattle (like cows), wild animals or beasts (fox, hare, goats, etc.)
