I actually did know about it in 2012 because of an obscure indie game called Vidiot Game (made by one of the guys who worked on Barkley Shut Up and Jam Gaiden)

One of the endings even has you getting rich off bitcoin. That's how I got interested in bitcoin initially, but I didn't actually buy anything until I got like $20 of DOGE in 2014. I tried setting up mining for Bitcoin earlier, but got bored and put Linux on my PS3 to play emulators instead. Played a lot of Bonk's Adventure that summer, shame I didn't focus more on getting Bitcoin but it was fun.
It worked out anyway, got into crypto for real in 2017, so I still made millions.
