Honestly this whole thing is so much effort for such an unimportant matter. Games "dying" isn't even close to top problems of the video game industry.
Also I might care more if the initiative applied to all softwares and not just video games. I see no reason to stop at video games.

They say "it's not a problem if some features stop working" which is dumb. It should be possible to reconnect anything that rely on a server.
