That gives me an idea - an old monster whose teeth have fallen out, being fed as part of a conservation program. The handlers hit the victim with a short acting paralytic and then drop them in the pen. The monster chews the victim out of habit, but the soft gums do no serious harm, giving the frightened victim a very confusing (and maybe a little pleasurable) experience, before they get swallowed and digested.
