>You believe progress is whatever the owner of the IP says it is.
I don't "believe" whatever the IP owner says, I "believe" what I can see with my own eyes. There is a clear improvement in each Elder Scrolls & Fallout game that Bethesda has made, getting progressively better. Skyrim has better gameplay, more memorable characters, more distinct locations, more unique and viable playstyles, etc. then Oblivion or Morrowind. The worldbuilding of course is not as good as Morrowind but that's a totally different issue. Fallout 4 is the best (Bethesda) Fallout game as the gunplay and crafting/settlement systems actually started to get good. Starfield had the potential to be the best of all of their projects so far but they fumbled it. You can't disagree with this unless if you have some sort of contrarian viewpoint. It's objectively better as a VIDEO GAME which is what you're playing, not reading a book or running a D&D campaign.
TR specifically upsets me because of the massive amount of work and high level of dedication and skill the TR modders have put into their craft, actually trying to remake all of Tamriel into a single game is an insane feat that they may actually accomplish, but all of it on the worst foundations possible. That's why I'm upset at it. They could have taken a fraction of that effort in any other game and made one of the best gameplay/mod experiences of all time.
