If a teacher chastises children does he hate them? Again you think in very pluralistic ways.

They find us reclusive..perhaps savage. Humans have long kept their superstitions at hand, believing it brings them closer to the Light. We are the moon.

''Inside the elven forest.'' Nyct mentioned a community living there. ''A large tribe of monsters has settled there; they're the ones who trained me in this new purification method.'' The large oni turns her head to look at Seyraphal. ''You've been accruing a big Corruption surplus haven't you, Sey?''

''Yeah...'' Guilt wraps the moth's admission with such intense vulnerability it takes a genuine conscious effort for you to resist the urge to hug her. ''...Rot Lungs made it hard to handle.''

''I could showcase this purification later, perhaps in a day or two once we're both fully recovered.'' The warrior continues. ''You'll see firsthand why I call it dangerous.''

Fully recovered? Uprooting a tree with your bare hands isn't a sign of perfect health yet?

''I...'' Seyraphal begins talking quickly after her friend. ''I am a suspicious soul by nature. Speaking about myself is difficult.'' She's keeping her face downcast, two of her four hands touching her fuzzy collarbone.

''You don't need to share anything you don't want to.''

''Thank you, Rey.'' Her long, bony fingers interlock as she forces a smile. ''Your entire family has more than earned my trust; you've taken me away from an agonizing existence, fed me, nursed me to health and now you offer to buy me clothes with nothing but generosity in your hearts... I'm in awe, my gratitude makes me feel guilty and insignificant for I have no way to repay anything. No logic motivates my distrust so I'll be ignoring it.''

Reaching for a cup of water with her lower arms, Seyraphal refreshes her throat, the large wings draped on her back pulse nervously.

''I am a druid.''

''Druid?'' Your mother's interrupts. ''I've heard all of your orders declined into nothing after the death of the Elemental Trees.''

''I don't know about any orders.'' Seyraphal shakes her head and doesn't try to stare back at your mother. ''My old master found me when I needed him. He taught me how to cure myself of an old condition, how to master the Corruption inside me, and eventually allowed me a full apprenticeship in his art. Unfortunately, the Immortal Syndrome claimed him before I could fully finish my training.''

The Immortal Syndrome is a phenomenon happening to all non-elven immortals. People's souls accrue all kinds of experiences throughout the years and those without defined lifespan are slowly but surely eroded by the weight of years until their souls cannot cope with the strain of life. Long hibernation is needed to recover, to cure bodies and souls of the scars of emotions and memories. That master of hers must have lived a long time indeed.
