I bet police want their country back, too. A return to the good old days where they could turn up, everyone would stop what they were doing and respectfully obey the police, hand over all details, then go home and trust the police to follow up on the case.
Now no-one respects them, many people outright despise them, you can't trust them, and they're more likely to get assaulted if they show up to a happening.
