>At first, Yara despised her. Revka Oriane, a Navigator, swathed in silks and arrogance, her every movement perfumed with old money and sanctioned privilege. A mutant, yes, but not like her. Not forged in gravity’s crucible or spat on by the same mouths that praised the Emperor. Revka was a daughter of the Navis Nobilite; she was a mutant with a crest and a noble family name. She grew up with a retinue and a cabin with actual walls. And that eye! The Warp Eye, a slick, lidless bulb of corruption puncturing its way out of her forehead like some obscene jewel, purple-veined and forever half-seeing things no sane mind should endure. distrusted it at first. Sometimes, she swore she could feel the Eye lecherously tracing the length of her thin, stretched frame, crawling over her like something half-aware and unclean whenever she spoke to Revka. But the Navigator talked to her. Not at her. Not down to her. And in that voice was patience, curiosity, even kindness. Long shifts turned into longer conversations. Jealousy turned to understanding, and understanding decayed sweetly into something warmer, more dangerous. In Revka’s presence, the pressure in Yara’s chest wasn’t just gravity anymore. It was longing. It was a carnal desire to see what was underneath those velvety imperial robes of her's. It was love.
