I agree with you 100%. The picture is accurate. We have thrown away 2 generations of valuable young men. My purpose of posting itt is to say that precisely. But the problem is more complex. I am identifying the actual cause. Living in a society oversupplied with energy is impossible to manage. The proper term for this when describing social networks is called explosion. We can also equate this in another way to error, or deviation from a normal distribution. When we use this concept of error to analyze the situation here regarding entropy we can then use engineering principals to design control mechanism to correct these problems. The only way to control oversupply is to turn it off. That is exactly what we do not have because control is an off switch.

While most of civilization was built upon the storage of capital for later use, what we have become accustomed to is a lifestyle based entirely upon consumption. Saudi Arabia for example, according to Adam Smith, should be the wealthiest nation ever, but in actuality it is only as wealthy as people buy their petroleum products. The moment we found large oceans of petroleum energy we have been constructing an open ended system that requires very little feedback into its maintenance.
