Mark Zuckerberg hired an AI researcher for $1 Billion dollars a year and has hired multiple OpenAI researchers for over 100 million dollars a year. (Sounds bullshit but you can google it).

He says his doing this as he has self improving AI and is close to having AI smarter than the best humans at everything which he plans on giving to everyone.
