>some hint of magic - not too much, no high-fantasy stuff, only some spirituality, ouija board levels
>bdsm / rape play elements - but just elements, tying her up and blindflod her or something minor, no full blown

The whole "he killed animals in a forest for seemingly no reason" is no problem. That is a mistake that men make. Women don't give a single flying fuck about whether or not the motivations of evil make any sense.
Trying to be logical and consistent is just lots of effort for no benefit. Plot holes don't matter when writing for women.
