If you want a more recent comparison, when Sonic 3 came out, SA2 (and every early to mid 2000's sonic game featuring Shadow) had a massive spike in price, especially if they were on the gamecube. SA2 on dreamcast goes for nearly 200 dollars even now and it's not even the best way to play the game.
