Not drinkan anything yet, but I'm halfway through making ginger beer. Maybe some hobbyist guys who have done so before can help me out with what I'm doing wrong, because my ginger bug either keeps dying or not developing natural yeast:
>add 2 tbs sugar + 2 tbs finely chopped (unpeeled) ginger to 2 cups (filtered or bottled) water
>add the same amounts of ginger and sugar to the water every day over the next 2-3 days, and give it a stir each time
>almost no fizz/no fizz over the duration
I don't understand what I'm doing wrong. I've tried white sugar, granulated brown sugar, honey, turbanado. I've tried making it in a mason jar and a plastic jug, both sterilized. I've tried stirring with a sterilized chopstick and gently swirling it around in its container. I keep the thing in shade/indirect sunlight, I have a damp towel secured over the top of it, and it's been warm and humid this past week, but no dice. Idk how I'm fucking up yeast of all things when people who didn't even wash their hands figured this shit out.
