…It’s getting pretty awkward. The two girls stand there in silence, the wolf-girl continuing to watch 'Beatrice' suspiciously. 'Beatrice' just fiddles with her fingers, praying for Lorene to arrive soon.
“…So, why isn’t Sammy showing up?”
“O-oh! Um… she seemed pretty scared, and said no… I didn’t want to push her…”
“Hmm… okay…” Clover puts a hand to her chin, giving ‘Beatrice’ another look-over.
Hermione wished she could be doing anything else right now, even just tapping on her phone’s setting screen blankly, but it’d be breaking character, and there was no point in potentially jeopardizing her disguise just to occupy herself. She could have the illusion cover it up, but with the wolf-girl watching her so closely, it was again just another unnecessary risk.
“Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm…”
“I-is something w-wrong?”
“Nope!”
Well. This sucked. Hermione was beginning to reconsider whether or not risking discovery was really that bad, when the distant sound of tapping footsteps finally ends her misery.
Lorene stops next to the wolf-girl, catching her breath, then joins her in eyeing the new girl carefully. “Hey Clover. …Bea?”
‘Beatrice’ gives a little wave. “H-hello! That’s me!”
There was no fucking way that girl was a Rockefeller. She looked like she was homeless. Lorene thinks for a moment, before shrugging. She walks up to the factory doors, and the other two girls watch her. “Have you two hunted a Witch before?”
“I-I haven’t!”
Clover looks down at her feet. “…I-I wanted to wait for my first hunt to be with pack-mates.”
Lorene sighs, shaking her head. “…Good thing I decided to come, then.”
She pushes open the doors, and as the metal gates slowly swing back, they can see the entrance to the Witch’s labyrinth, flickering in the dark. The floating magical circle, inscribed with strange patterns, slowly spins in the air. The three girls look at it with a small sense of anticipation.
