As Stephanie walks through the hallways of the school, she takes note of the architecture. It’s very… open. Many surfaces are made of glass. The doors and walls (more like windows really) leading to and from the hallways are made of glass. The ceiling is made of glass. Stairway railings are blocked by glass. It gives her the impression that anyone could see her do anything in this place if she were unlucky. It doesn’t help that the major areas where students read books and eat food are in clear sight from the upper floors.
Stephanie looks into some of the classrooms and sees teachers scarfing down their breakfast while trying to plan lessons, looks like this is a universal constant of all the schools she’s been to. She tries to closely peer into the rooms, but she doesn’t want to be seen as a weirdo by the teachers on her first day of school, so she tries to find an empty classroom that isn’t locked instead.

Thankfully Fate, who or whatever controls it, smiles on Stephanie as she finds an empty maths classroom that was left unlocked. She inspects the room and mostly finds what she expects, a large meter-long ruler made of metal (her instincts tell her it’s specifically aluminium, huh), papers with Mathematical time-tables on them, and that smell of freshly used whiteboard pens- wait, freshly used?

She looks at the whiteboard and sees that there’s a whole bunch of symbols written on it. She has no idea what they’re meant to mean, but she’s sat through enough Maths classes to know that these aren’t used in any calculations she knows of. And her Magic Bullshit Senses are telling her that these symbols are meant to mean something, so she whips out her phone and takes a picture of it. Best to keep any evidence of Magic Bullshit around.

“What are you doing here?” A familiar voice says, startling Stephanie.

She turns towards the door and is greeted by the sight of Lucy, looking much more irascible than usual from the brief time she’s met her.
“I already told you before, Lucy, I’m looking around the school so I can get a head-start and not be lost later.”

“But did you really need to go into a classroom for that? Did you even ask the teacher before just waltzing in? Don’t you know how rude it is to go into places without the owner’s permission? That it’s against the rules?”

“Wait, there are rules against that?” Stephanie has never heard of such rules. “Where are they written, when were we told about this?”

Lucy points towards the whiteboard with those unreadable symbols. At that moment, Stephanie hears a message from her trusted co-ordinator in spirit form.

”There’s absolutely, definitely a Witch in this school, keep your guard up!!!”

Oh. This is piecing together a bit for Stephanie: Lucy is being manipulated by a Witch to do this for whatever reason, probably just for a laugh.

>Stephanie needs to pacify Lucy somehow.
