It definelely adds more flavor to scenes. It seems a lot of modern stuff just has people kind of staring at the foreground giving a deadpan thousand yard glare with a painted on smile. It's honestly one of the reasons I haven't watched any newer anime in a long time. Except for watching Demon Slayer for my sister. I was not a fan. God that sucked, but I did it to make her happy.
