in Melbourne the suburb of Footscray was an Vietnamese and Chinese ghetto in the late 80s/90s and probably for a little while after, you can learn about a depiction of it in the film Romper Stomper strangely enough. Although it has since been kind of gentrified nowadays for university students and whatnot so that may have changed a little. It's funny because it's an anti racism film that kind of showed the shithole reality of that suburb at one point in time. I would know because i spent a lot of time there.
