Funny enough over time they became my absolute favorite thing to fight in the game. Just remember that they're a Dark Souls 1 enemy and so the safe spot is under their crotch or behind and to the side of their hindlegs. Love staggering these big lads with the zwei. Now, Royal Revenants, on the other hand are the actual devil. There's no finesse there, just smashing them and hoping they don't teleport away and do that multihit attack.
