With a population of majority Russian speakers and Russians in general who voted to integrate into Russia in a referendum, it's obvious that these regions didn't want to be held back by Ukraine's NATO dreams. Kherson and Zaporizhzhia are more difficult cases for you to understand so let's focus on those two regions for now.
