I remember they kind of messed up this bit when they put it in the tankobons.
It was really funny when you first saw it because the series had been running long enough to really cement in your mind what Jin's personality was like, and the contrast was funny, but when they got round to the tankobons, they put it in the first volume where it didn't work as well
