The 'kill yourself' scene is his introductory scene and he is nothing but a gigantic asshole for at least the first two seasons (I bowed out after that) and not in the fun rival kind of way. It is not a great way to endear a character to anyone but fujos with a toxic yaoi kink which probably explains why they absolutely took over the fanbase.
