Ukrainian Marines Raise Flag In Contested Village, Refuting Russian Claims

Ukraine's 37th Separate Marine Brigade has released drone footage appearing to show its troops operating freely in the western part of Dachne, a contested settlement in the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast. The video directly refutes Russian claims, which have circulated for over a week, that their forces had seized control of the village.
The footage, dated July 6, shows Ukrainian marines moving through the heavily damaged settlement before unfurling and raising their brigade's flag on a destroyed building. The video's narration explicitly frames the act as a counter-disinformation measure.
"For over a week, Russian occupying forces have been 'reporting' the supposed capture of this settlement," the video's narrator states. "Today, we refute the enemy's claims."
The act of raising the flag serves a dual purpose, according to the brigade. It establishes "objective control" and visually confirms the presence of Ukrainian Defense Forces in the area. It also acts as a message to Russian forces: "We are here... we are ready to fight to the end, [and] we will not give up a single meter of our land without a fight."
The control of small settlements like Dachne is often fiercely contested, with both sides using drone reconnaissance and official channels to project control and shape the narrative of the battlefield. This video is a clear example of Ukraine using visual evidence to assert its position on the front line.
