When I was in such places, I was either alone and wanted to be left to my own devices, or (rarely) I served as a guide for those that ordinarly are afraid of visiting such spaces. When I met a fellow traveler, there was only a silent agreement between us to not attack each other and we parted ways. Or at least this is what I did and assume the other person did too.
