All of history is oral tradition. 99% of written records that represent all nations' and cultures' history was transcribed by the Greeks (and then destroyed again) or Europeans in the 17th and 18th centuries. Virtually no original written document has ever survived from true first order sources.
Of course many histories are wrong. That's a feature, not a flaw. The correlation arises when all cultures say the same thing.
