Polish oil producers demand unblocking of imports from Ukraine.
The Polish Association of Oil Producers (PSPO), which represents 95% of Polish oil and fat factories, has asked Prime Minister Donald Tusk to intervene in amending the resolution of the Ministry of Development and Technology of September 15, 2023, which bans imports of agricultural products from Ukraine.
The Association noted that the situation of the domestic oilseed industry is already “extremely difficult”. It is already experiencing a shortage of raw materials for the 2024/2025 season, given the processing capacity of oil mills, which exceeds 4 million tons of rapeseed per year.
Adam Stempiń, CEO of the PSPO, noted that the 2023 decree banned rapeseed imports from Ukraine. In January, Polish farmers held a protest in Warsaw against imports of agricultural products from Ukraine and EU policies, which they consider “harmful.”
