I find your argument to be one of the more reasonable ones.
Yet, I might attempt to impart some plausibility.
Supposing the result of prolonged exposure to the normalisation of proud disabled people in future generations means that the children of your descendants, or ours, when disabled, find that they can fit in more easily?
The goal is long-term harmony, but new ideals are fraught with imbalance to old systems.
That does not mean that the best intentions do not achieve the best results in time.
A hybrid seed will often outgrow its ancestors, reaching for the sun faster and wider, yet from looking at the seed, we can only see the present state of unknown potential compared to the other seeds, which, when planted forever for fear of change, only bring more hybrids when we do not expect them.
The evolution of all things is harmony, balance is accepting that harmony will shift.
