Once a meta is established and people adhere to it, the fun and integrity of the competition goes out the window and the community starts dying and becoming extremely cringe. The only time people find competitive games or communities interesting is before a meta is established and people are still discovering or inventing new tech and strategies. No one fucking cares about watching 2 dorks run through their Starcraft build order that they copied from a website that teaches them how to be a pro starcraft player. They wanna see on the fly strategies and unique shit, the only people that give a fuck about how well someone can follow a meta is other fags that think following the meta makes them as cool as the people they were inspired by before the meta was established. The FGC is currently still coasting on the appeal of that era of discovery that has been dead for like 10 years now, and its slowly dying off as the meta era drags it into a cringe grave filled with gold rank redditors parroting shit they read on twitter to each other thinking they sound like pros.
This genre is going to die an undignified death, and when it does all the meta slaves will move on to whatever the new hot thing is so they can make all the people "establishing the meta" leave the scene after they take the fun out of everything and making it so everyone does the same shit because none of them have the ability to come up with their own style or strategies.
Much like MTG is now cringe and retarded, and the only people interested in the game have zero ability to build a deck, the current fighting game players will drop the genre entirely when they're expected to find their own combos or lab shit on their own when all the old players stop making videos because they've been completely demoralized and realize there's nothing left about fighting games that they enjoy.
