Yup. Mostly just because they don't have self-respect, and they're so desperate and lonely they will go for the first woman that says yes. Or the more sad option, he married her and she just starts gaining weight like winter's coming and she's a scrawny bear. And because they're married and marriage is supposed to be forever and he loves her, he will never see anything to hurt her feelings, let alone leave.
