the point of the 12 day war was a proof of concept, to see if israel could hold its own and do damage to iran in a real military conflict between the two, the real war to come being one where israel seeks total regime change. clearly, israel failed to defend itself from being hit by iranian missiles and unveiled a glaring problem in terms of interceptor stockpiles
I doubt Iran suffered much from this war, given that pretty much everyone knew Israel was going to launch strikes on Iran weeks before this happened, so obviously Iranian intelligence knew, and then everyone knew the US would be getting involved, so Iranian intelligence knew that as well. Anything the US did bomb was as you said, empty, so while Iran did itself lose a lot of people and proved that the US and Israel can strike it with impunity, they can't really do much more than that, especially considering the proven Iranian ability for them to strike Israeli territory
