Sara Millstone, the humble daughter of a farmer, easily recalls the first time she met the brave Sir Marmaduke Featherford Galeston III.

His party was visible from afar, riding on the backs of golden-armoured horses with a small company of the King's men escorting them to the city. It was rumoured that heroes would be coming to town soon, though the specifics were unclear. They had slain a lich, or a devil... Maybe it had been a dragon? Nobody had a definitive answer, they were only sure that a great evil was slain and these were the men responsible.

She jumped at the opportunity as the heroes rode by her father's farm, greeting them with a basket of fresh foods and homemade cheese. Although they didn't stay to chat much, she was enamoured by Duke's rather flamboyant display of gratitude towards her humble gesture. She watched as the party continued into the city, returning the soldiers that had escorted them.

The next day, Sara's father was awoken to a knock on the door. When he opened, he was greeted by Duke, who seemed disappointed to be met with a man. He asked where the girl was, and Sara's father retrieved her. Duke thanked the pair of them for the food, saying he and his allies enjoyed it. In exchange, he offered the family 3 gold pieces for their troubles. Sara was about to refuse before her father cut her off and accepted the gift. Before her father had a chance to fully cut the interaction, she asked Duke to regale her with a story about what happened. Duke agreed, and Sara prepared bowls of her mothers' soup for them before she led him to a bench by the shore of a nearby creek for them to sit and eat.

Duke explained that he heard of a dragon living in the area, and immediately decided he would slay it. His party urged against this, thinking themselves incapable of handling the challenge.
