This is IS2, so there aren't ascensions yet (I'm playing on the normal difficulty). The stamps don't look any different depending on difficulty here, but in IS5 they change the higher you go-- I think at 0, 5, 10 and 13? As for why people do it, autism. They're fixing IS2 ending encounter RNG with the update that comes before Act or Die but I think I'll be burnt out by then and am trying to get as much done as I can now. Not like there's much else to do during dead weeks.
