Gamers who are genuinely interested in playing vidya and not trying to satisfy their girly shopping desires will just pirate or buy depending on whichever they think is more convenient. Consoomers (your average anon) will just wait for sales and buy a bunch of shitty games which they'll play maybe one or two of for 25 minutes and never touch again.

>Maybe thats what we see value in touhou, we do not wish to bastardize it as /v/hu does on a regular basis.
Touhou has always been bastardize by the fanbase because most people don't care about talking about the games, they care about fanmade content and how much they want to fuck the girls. That said, I get it why; the games aren't really anything special. At most, they're challenging and decently fair compared to others shmups, but if you remove the girls, what is there to talk about with Touhou? I'd argue the series is only as popular as it is because of the fanmade content, which tends to deviate from canon as every artist either has their own interpretation of the character (as a result of most of them barely has any dialogue, unless you're playable in multiple games) or just hop onto another artist's popular interpretation of a character.
Sorry if this has little to do with your post, but what you said just made me want to ramble about this sort of stuff.
